Native to Florida and other states in the southeastern part of the country. They are part of the otiosus sub family. Otiosis group includes Phidippus regius, Phidippus californicus, and Phidippus pius. They are known to mate with p. Regius in the wild. This is possibly where the otiosus from Florida gets her sometimes orange sheen.
This practice is highly discouraged in the hobby.
